Basketball Recap: American School for the Deaf Victorious

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but American School for the Deaf ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 58-57 photo finish over the Ohio School for the Deaf Spartans. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead American School for the Deaf to victory, but perhaps none more so than John McCabe, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave McCabe a new career-high in points. Basil Blackford was another key player, going 8-for-14 en route to 16 points and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Ohio School for the Deaf lost, don't look at Keaton Maish. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Maish's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Castro, who posted eight points and five steals.

American School for the Deaf's record now sits at 11-6. As for Ohio School for the Deaf, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14.

As for Ohio School for the Deaf, they and Lexington School for the Deaf will face off at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday without much rest, having both just played.
