Baseball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Santana

Santana's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Hilltop Lancers. The Sultans haven't had any issues with the Lancers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Nathan Dowers tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Brennan Weed was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Gavin Kelly, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Santana's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Hilltop, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Santana and Hilltop will both be playing La Costa Canyon the next time they take the field. Hilltop will host La Costa Canyon at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Santana will host them at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
