Baseball Game Preview: White Lake Lakers vs. Bowler Panthers

White Lake hasn't had much luck against Bowler recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Lakers will head out to face off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. White Lake has given up an average of 14.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

White Lake is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 21st straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They lost 18-1 to Gresham Community.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bowler). Everything went their way against Marion on Thursday as they made off with a 24-16 win. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Bowler let Blake Brunner and Treyvon Granquist run wild. Brunner went 2-for-6 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Granquist got on base in all six of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Granquist has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gage Wanta, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Bowler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

With the victory, Bowler broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-5. As for White Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

White Lake might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Bowler in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Lakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
