Softball Recap: West Shamokin Wolves vs. United Lions
While West Shamokin put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for United. The Wolves blew past the Lions 15-0. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Avery Elkin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Malena Stewart was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Deanna Boyer, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
