Baseball Recap: Malakoff Takes a Loss

Malakoff entered their match against Grand Saline on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tigers lost 13-1 to the Indians. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Tigers, who until this contest were averaging 3.91 runs allowed.

Malakoff saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryland Shorb, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Malakoff's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Grand Saline, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Malakoff will take on Edgewood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.9, the Bulldogs 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Grand Saline, they will challenge Winona at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
