Volleyball Recap: Byron Bears vs. Winona Winhawks

Byron waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Winona Winhawks 3-0.

Byron never let Winona on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-10, 25-16.

Addison Johnson was the offensive standout of the match as she had 13 digs.

Byron was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 15 aces. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved they're ace total in three consecutive contests.

Byron's win bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Winona, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-19.

After both having extra time off, Byron and Kasson-Mantorville will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kasson-Mantorville is coming into the game with three straight victories on the road, so Byron will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Winona does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
