Basketball Recap: Canterbury Drops Season-High Score on Bonita Springs

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canterbury). They took their match on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 88-54 win over the Bonita Springs Bullsharks. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Canterbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyle Scharlau led the charge by going 8 for 12 on his way to 16 points. Collin Meagher was another key player, going 7 of 13 en route to 17 points.

Canterbury was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Bonita Springs saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Trey Bronson dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 boards. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for Bronson. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Kirkby, who posted 11 points.

Canterbury's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-11. As for Bonita Springs, they are on a 36-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Canterbury wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-51 victory against Bradenton Christian on the 9th. As for Bonita Springs, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-49 defeat against Neumann on the 9th.
