Softball Game Preview: Central Catholic Rams vs. Tualatin Timberwolves

The Central Catholic Rams will head out to take on the Tualatin Timberwolves at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Catholic has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Central Catholic is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 18 runs on Friday, they were much more limited against McMinnville on Monday. They came up short against the Grizzlies, falling 16-1. The Rams' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Central Catholic saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Schellinkhout, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Tualatin faced Lake Oswego in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Timberwolves took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakers. The Timberwolves have struggled against the Lakers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Tualatin's defeat dropped their record down to 21-9. As for Central Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 11-13.

Central Catholic beat Tualatin 7-3 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
