Softball Game Preview: Heritage Academy Heroes vs. Imagine Prep Superstition Panthers

Heritage Academy is a perfect 3-0 against Imagine Prep Superstition since March of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Heroes will welcome the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Heritage Academy has 15 straight victories, Imagine Prep Superstition has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Heritage Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Maricopa Institute of Technology 17-0. Fans of the Heroes have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Addy Gillespie was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jordyn Taylor was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Riley Reiss was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Heritage Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Imagine Prep Superstition lost 20-5 to Mission Heights Prep on Thursday.

Heritage Academy pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 15.3 runs thus far. As for Imagine Prep Superstition, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
