Lexington extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-15 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Wayne. Considering Lexington has won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Colby Haynes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last two matches. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Buddy Cormany was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gavrie Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Lexington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only posted an OBP of .300.
As for Wayne, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-11. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On Wayne's side, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaxon Dill, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Coming up, Lexington will take on Little Axe at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.07 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. Wayne does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
