Baseball Recap: Kecoughtan Takes a Loss

Kecoughtan had lost five straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-10 to make it six. They fell 13-10 to the Bethel Bruins. Even if the Warriors couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Jackson Mumford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khai Chambers, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

As for Bethel, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for they, who until this contest were averaging 3.4 runs allowed.

On Bethel's side, Conner Lamb and Josh Flicek made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Lamb tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Flicek pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Lamb has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Lamb got on base in three of his six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Flicek went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Bethel is 4-1 when Lamb posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jaycob Miller was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Carson Dorn was another key player, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three RBI.

While Kecoughtan had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
