Preview: Elkin Buckin' Elks vs. South Stokes Sauras
Elkin has enjoyed the comforts of home their last five games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the South Stokes Sauras at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Elkin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 606th, while South Stokes is ranked 20th).
Last Thursday, Elkin lost to Alleghany at home by a decisive 49-35 margin. Elkin has not had much luck with Alleghany recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, even though North Stokes scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, South Stokes still came out on top. South Stokes strolled past North Stokes with points to spare, taking the game 74-55.
Elkin's loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-10. As for South Stokes, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.
Elkin took a serious blow against South Stokes in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 72-34. Can Elkin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
