Recap: Avon Panthers vs. Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams
The Avon Panthers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They slipped by Upper Cape Cod RVT 62-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Avon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Guerrier, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Guerrier has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Thomas Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Avon pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Upper Cape Cod RVT, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Falmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Falmouth Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Upper Cape Cod RVT, they will head out on the road to take on Sturgis West at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
