Santa Clara has gone 8-2 against Lynbrook recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. Drew Diffenderfer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, Santa Clara let Charles Conley and Connor Houle run wild. Conley got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Houle went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Houle is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Gallegos, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Santa Clara kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lynbrook came up short against Saratoga on Tuesday, falling 18-3.
Lynbrook saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Yung, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run.
Santa Clara's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lynbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
Lynbrook's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Santa Clara hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. It's a different story for Lynbrook, though, as they've only averaged .227. Will they be able to contain Santa Clara's hitters?
