Basketball Recap: Gray Stone Day Comes Up Short

Gray Stone Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Union Academy Cardinals, falling 64-20. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Cardinals are ranked 128th).

Union Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ranon Suttle out in front who went 7 of 13 on her way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Paisley Boatright, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards.

Gray Stone Day's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Union Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Gray Stone Day didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 44-39 defeat against Bethany Community on the 16th. As for Union Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-18 victory against South Stanly on the 17th.
