Baseball Game Preview: Moorefield Yellow Jackets vs. Frankfort Falcons

The Moorefield Yellow Jackets will venture away from home to square off against the Frankfort Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Moorefield has struggled recently with eight defeats in a row, while Frankfort will arrive with four straight wins.

Moorefield fell victim to Petersburg and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Frankfort had just enough and edged out Keyser 6-5 on Wednesday.

The team relied heavily on Jacob Nething, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Lane Lease, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Frankfort pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Moorefield, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Moorefield suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Frankfort in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
