Recap: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Eaton Reds
The Platte Valley Broncos's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Eaton at home and fell 68-37. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Platte Valley in their matchups with Eaton: they've now lost seven in a row.
Logan Ries and Jordan Amaya certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Ries scored 21 points, while Amaya dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Ries scored 15 or more points.
Eaton had a senior duo take command as Mitch Haythorn scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and four steals and Lucas Stone scored 15 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. The contest was Haythorn's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Ely Madaleno was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
Platte Valley's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-4. As for Eaton, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Platte Valley will head out on the road to face off against University at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. Eaton will take on Berthoud at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Berthoud is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
