Basketball Recap: Hylton Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Hylton won the last time they faced Gar-Field and things went their way on Friday too. The Hylton Bulldogs managed a 38-33 win over the Gar-Field Red Wolves.

Hylton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Raegan Cathcart, who posted 13 points and six boards. That makes it five consecutive games in which Cathcart has scored at least a third of Hylton's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diamond Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Hylton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Gar-Field still got an impressive performance from Icys Carroll, who earned 23 points. That was a full 69.7% of Gar-Field's points, marking the 14th time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Hylton's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Gar-Field, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Hylton has already played their next matchup, a 59-14 defeat against Freedom on the 21st. As for Gar-Field, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-40 loss against Woodbridge on the 21st.
