Football Recap: Nogales Takes a Loss

Nogales extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were outmatched by the Desert View Jaguars and fell 57-0. While losing is never fun, the Apaches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 19th).

As for Desert View, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Jaylee Abraham was his usual excellent self, rushing for 222 yards and four scores on only 13 carries. His longest rush was for an impressive 60 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Ryan Vasavilbaso was another key player, throwing for 275 yards and four TDs while completing 73.9% of his passes.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Nogales will face off against Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Desert View, they will challenge Canyon del Oro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dorados will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
