Preview: Ursuline Academy Bears vs. Notre Dame Academy Cougars
Ursuline Academy is 2-8 against Notre Dame Academy since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Ursuline Academy Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Notre Dame Academy Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Ursuline Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Sunday. They claimed a resounding 72-38 victory over Maimonides on the road. Given Ursuline Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Maimonides is ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Notre Dame Academy put another one in the bag last Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Archbishop Williams 45-23. Notre Dame Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Ursuline Academy and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Notre Dame Academy, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0.
Ursuline Academy came up short against Notre Dame Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 50-44. Can Ursuline Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
