Basketball Recap: Twinsburg's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Twinsburg hadn't done well against Nordonia recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Twinsburg Tigers came out on top against the Nordonia Knights by a score of 52-41. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the Knights are ranked 372nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Among those leading the charge was Mackenzie Sweeney, who went 5 of 9 en route to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Giana Taylor, who posted four points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Twinsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Twinsburg's record is now 8-3. As for Nordonia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Twinsburg will venture away from home to take on Solon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Solon knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Twinsburg likes a good challenge. As for Nordonia, they will host Wadsworth at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
