Baseball Recap: Englewood Stem Beats Dyett for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Englewood Stem had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Dyett Eagles by a score of 4-1.

Dejohne Luckett made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and three stolen bases.

In other batting news, Jordin Walker was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Joe Love also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Englewood Stem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Englewood Stem's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Dyett, they now have a losing record of 0-1-1.

Looking ahead, Dyett is taking a road trip to challenge Gage Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Englewood Stem will be paying especially close attention to the Eagles' game: after the Eagles face off against the Fighting Owls, they'll take on Englewood Stem again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
