Softball Recap: Gainesville Comes Up Short

Sparta hit Gainesville with a five-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bulldogs took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 7-5.

This is the second loss in a row for Gainesville and nudges their season record down to 10-7. As for Sparta, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-11.

Looking ahead, Gainesville will look to defend their home field on Monday against Alton at 4:30 p.m. Sparta has already played their next match (against Conway), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
