Basketball Game Preview: Highlands Ranch Falcons vs. Douglas County Huskies

Highlands Ranch is on a five-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, Douglas County a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Highlands Ranch Falcons will host the Douglas County Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-50, which was the final score in Highlands Ranch's tilt against Chaparral on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Wolverines are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Douglas County lost to Legend on the road by a 62-45 margin on Tuesday. The Huskies were down 52-32 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Highlands Ranch will have to contain Vaughn Baldwin as he made an impact in Douglas County's last game. He dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Dale, who posted 11 points.

Douglas County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Highlands Ranch, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Highlands Ranch came up short against Douglas County when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 69-64. Can Highlands Ranch avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
