Baseball Recap: Gilroy Takes a Loss

Gilroy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Prospect Panthers. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Gilroy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Hernandez Jr., who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That run was Hernandez Jr.'s first of the season.

Gilroy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Prospect, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 4-4.

While Gilroy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
