Preview: Pilot Point Bearcats vs. Whitesboro Bearcats
Pilot Point has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Whitesboro Bearcats at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Pilot Point suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Ponder at home and fell 86-17. While losing is never fun, Pilot Point can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1488th, while Ponder is ranked 362nd).
Meanwhile, Whitesboro unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Paradise.
Pilot Point bumped their record down to 1-21 with that defeat, which was their 20th straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.7 points per game. As for Whitesboro, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-15.
Pilot Point took a serious blow against Whitesboro when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 79-22. Can Pilot Point avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
