Baseball Recap: Tesoro Takes a Loss

Tesoro extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-19 in the process. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Aliso Niguel Wolverines. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolverines apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2022.

As for Aliso Niguel, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

For Aliso Niguel's part, Andrew Watson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Watson has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other pitching news, Aliso Niguel got a great performance from Connor Etnire as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Etnire has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.

Watson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Etnire, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

While Tesoro had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
