Football Recap: Mountain Vista Starts Season with Victory Against Liberty + How To Watch

Mountain Vista gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They managed a 49-45 win over the Liberty Patriots. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Golden Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in Colorado, while the Patriots are ranked 51st in California).

Marquise Reese was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 410 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in one score on the ground. Those 410 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Brooklyn Bailey also helped out as he racked up 134 receiving yards.

Despite the loss, Liberty still got an impressive performance from Robert Smith Jr., who threw for 411 yards and four TDs.

Looking ahead, Mountain Vista will square off against Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Liberty, they will challenge Clovis West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
