Basketball Recap: New Life Christian Wins Going Away Against Mount Airy Christian Academy

New Life Christian hadn't done well against Mount Airy Christian Academy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. New Life Christian snuck past Mount Airy Christian Academy with a 53-47 win. The matchup marked New Life Christian's most dominant victory of the season.

Mount Airy Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carson Gilbert, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. What's more, Gilbert posted three assists, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elijah Brewer, who put up 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

New Life Christian is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season. Mount Airy Christian Academy is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-13.
