Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is J.L. Mann's Eighth in Last Ten Outings

J.L. Mann had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took down the Greenville Red Raiders 72-55. That's more bragging rights for the Patriots, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

J.L. Mann got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jade Hailstock out in front who went 6 of 12 on her way to 18 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Hailstock's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Imari Richardson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Hailstock wasn't the only one working in the assists department: J.L. Mann was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Greenville still got an impressive performance from Ava Owens, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Miracle Cheeks, who posted 13 points and three steals.

J.L. Mann is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Greenville, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

J.L. Mann has already played their next matchup, a 71-40 defeat against Legacy Early College on the 18th. As for Greenville, they will take on Hillcrest at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. Greenville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.8 points per game this season.
