Softball Recap: Pen Argyl Triumphs

Pen Argyl proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Notre Dame-Green Pond Crusaders 3-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 back in April.

Jillian Bradley made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 18 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Bradley wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Madacyn Rivera, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Rivera has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Pen Argyl hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

Pen Argyl's record is now 14-5. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.
