Basketball Recap: West St. John Comes Up Short

West St. John was the 67-65 winner over Jefferson RISE Charter when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The West St. John Rams were just a bucket shy of victory on Monday and fell 61-60 to Jefferson RISE Charter. The Rams' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it six in a row.

When it comes to explaining why West St. John lost, don't look at Naheim Gastearl. Despite the final result, he posted 19 points. Gastearl's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Xavier Poche was another key player, putting up 12 points.

West St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Jefferson RISE Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 3-16.

West St. John didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-40 win against Lycee Francais on the 14th. Jefferson RISE Charter has also already played their next contest (against Benjamin Franklin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
