Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Tomball walked away with it. They won by a run and slipped past the Waller Bulldogs 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their 19th in a row.

Regina Amaya tossed a big game, striking out 14 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Fabianna Marcano was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Hadlee Faulkner was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.

Tomball's victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-3. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Waller, their loss dropped their record down to 9-18.

Tomball will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
