Recap: Airport Eagles vs. Silver Bluff Bulldogs
If the Airport Eagles were feeling good off their 59-18 takedown of the Brookland-Cayce Bearcats last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Airport fell 41-28 to Silver Bluff on Tuesday. Airport has struggled against Silver Bluff recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Airport lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Ja'sia Booth, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Santana Reese, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Krystal Johnson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Silver Bluff, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Johnson's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Ahminah Taylor was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five steals.
Airport's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4. As for Silver Bluff, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
Airport will head out on the road to face off against Swansea at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Silver Bluff, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Brookland-Cayce at 6:30 p.m. on December 13th. Brookland-Cayce will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 165th, while Silver Bluff is ranked 22nd).
