Baseball Game Preview: Carver Crusaders vs. Rockland Bulldogs

Carver and Rockland are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Crusaders will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Carver nor Rockland posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Carver took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They never let Mashpee get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted since April 15, 2024.

Not much got past Ryder Holmes, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Mashpee off the board. Holmes also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Carver is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Carver saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joseph Lavoie, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Rockland came up short against Cardinal Spellman on Tuesday and fell 5-1. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Rockland now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Carver, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-5.

Carver skirted past Rockland 3-1 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
