Volleyball Recap: Dugger Union Bulldogs vs. North Vermillion Falcons
If Dugger Union was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of North Central on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the North Vermillion Falcons by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.
Dugger Union started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 15-7.
Sage Stahl paced Dugger Union's offense, picking up seven kills. Stahl got some help from Abby Shepler and her 12 assists. Brenley Snyder controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
North Vermillion can attribute much of their success to Laney Walters, who had eight digs and two aces. That's the most aces Walters has posted over her last seven games. Emley Thomas also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
Dugger Union's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for North Vermillion, the victory snapped their losing streak at six games and leaves them with a 3-6 record.
Coincidentally, Dugger Union and North Vermillion will both be playing North Daviess the next time they take the court. The Bulldogs will head out to face the Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Falcons will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
