Basketball Recap: Kirby Prep Takes a Loss

Kirby Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. The matchup between them and the Pajaro Valley Grizzlies didn't end well, with the Kirby Prep Griffins falling 59-40. The Griffins were not able to make up for their defeat to the Grizzlies from their previous meeting back in February of 2023.

Despite the loss, Kirby Prep saw an underclassman step up: freshman Chris Pierce dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Rain Li was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and ten boards.

Kirby Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Pajaro Valley, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.

Kirby Prep will head out to face off against Monterey Bay Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pajaro Valley, they will square off against Ceiba College Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
