Basketball Recap: Peabody-Burns Takes a Loss

Peabody-Burns was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Goessel Bluebirds, falling 59-34. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 64-39 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Peabody-Burns saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jameson Miles dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. That was a full 44.1% of Peabody-Burns' points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Aiden Hurst was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

Peabody-Burns' defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Goessel, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Peabody-Burns won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Rural Vista [Hope/White City] at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Goessel, they will also get right back to it: they'll square off against Centre at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
