Baseball Game Preview: Estes Park Bobcats vs. Platte Canyon Huskies

Estes Park is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Platte Canyon an eight-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Friday. The Estes Park Bobcats will welcome the Platte Canyon Huskies at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Estes Park couldn't beat Dawson School on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the first inning. The Bobcats lost 19-6 to the Mustangs.

Matthias Westley was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Gabe Oberg, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Platte Canyon came up short against Englewood on Wednesday, falling 11-4.

Platte Canyon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nathan Laabs, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple marked the first that Laabs has hit this season.

Estes Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Platte Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Estes Park has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Platte Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
