Softball Recap: Lackey Takes a Loss

Lackey had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it six. They came up short against the Patuxent Panthers, falling 10-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Chargers of the 15-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Lackey saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amber Boswell, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Patuxent, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-8-1. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.5 runs.

On Patuxent's side, Hannah Bruno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Bruno has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Rose Harrell was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Jasmine Somerville was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lackey has already played their next game (against Calvert), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Patuxent, they have also already played their next match, an 8-1 victory against Thomas Stone on the 5th.
