Basketball Game Preview: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Bear Grass Charter Bears

Lejeune is 6-1 against Bear Grass Charter since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Lejeune Devil Pups will be playing at home against the Bear Grass Charter Bears at 6:00 p.m. Lejeune knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully Bear Grass Charter likes a good challenge.

Lejeune is returning to their home court after beating Northside - Pinetown on theirs, despite the fact Northside - Pinetown has dominated at home this season. Lejeune snuck past Northside - Pinetown with a 58-54 victory on Saturday.

Devon Charles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 22 points and eight rebounds. The contest was his eighth in a row with at least 16 points. Connor Shea was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 14 points and nine boards.

Lejeune smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Bear Grass Charter suffered their closest defeat since December 3, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Hobgood Charter by a score of 61-58.

Lejeune is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.1 points over those games. Bear Grass Charter's loss dropped their record down to 11-11.

Lejeune took their win against Bear Grass Charter in their previous matchup back in November of 2017 by a conclusive 62-40. Will Lejeune repeat their success, or does Bear Grass Charter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
