MaxPreps professional photographers caught images of 11 Team U.S. players when they were preps.

Sunday's MLB All-Star Futures Game was a chance for some of the top talent in the minor leagues to get some national attention and dazzle fans in an MLB stadium. It was a great display of pitching at Target Field in Minneapolis, as the U.S. team beat the World team 3-2 in front of an announced 39,175 fans.

For some of the top players on the U.S. team, the honor of playing in the game came a short time after their prep careers. Check out some images of U.S. players while they were in high school in our slideshow.

Joey Gallo, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas)
Gallo was named the game's Most Valuable Player after clocking a two-run homer that gave the U.S. an insurmountable lead in the bottom of the sixth. Before pro ball, Gallo was the MaxPreps 2012 National Player of the Year with 21 homers his senior season (70 career), a .509 average and 13 stolen bases. He also pitched, hurling a no-hitter and entering as a force in relief.

Gallo was drafted 39th overall by the Texas Rangers and currently plays in AA for the Frisco RoughRiders. He has 31 homers this season between A and AA ball.
