Preview: Covington Trojans vs. Clinton Prairie Gophers
Covington is 8-2 against Clinton Prairie since February of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The pair will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Covington will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Clinton Prairie is ranked 99th).
After a string of three wins, Covington's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Seeger 37-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Covington has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Austin Stein, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Urban Roarks, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Clinton Prairie had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.8 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They came out on top against Rossville by a score of 57-48.
Covington's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Clinton Prairie, their victory was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
