Softball Recap: Fredericksburg Christian Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Fredericksburg Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Colonial Beach, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles put the hurt on the Drifters with a sharp 16-0 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

Scarlett Whittaker was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Fredericksburg Christian let Rylie Johnson and Haylie Johnson run wild. Rylie scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Haylie scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Rylie is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Reagan Thomas, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Fredericksburg Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory (which was Fredericksburg Christian's third in a row) raised their record to 4-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Colonial Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Fredericksburg Christian will challenge Saint Gertrude at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Colonial Beach, they will take on Rappahannock County at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
