Softball Recap: West Las Vegas Falls Short of Cobre in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact West Las Vegas can now relate to. They fell just short of the Cobre Indians by a score of 6-4 on Wednesday. The Dons' loss signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Malie Satete put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, Bryanna Montoya made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Alexis Pacheco was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

West Las Vegas' defeat dropped their record down to 22-5. As for Cobre, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season.

West Las Vegas does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cobre, they will face off against Dexter at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The Indians will need to watch out since the Demons have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests.
