Baseball Game Preview: Eaglecrest Raptors vs. Cherokee Trail Cougars

Eaglecrest hasn't had much luck against Cherokee Trail recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eaglecrest Raptors will host the Cherokee Trail Cougars at 11:00 a.m. The match will give Eaglecrest their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.

On Thursday, Eaglecrest didn't have quite enough to beat Chatfield and fell 11-10.

Tavish Dey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Blake Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Cherokee Trail fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Rock Canyon on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since May 11, 2024.

Luca Salvato was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Knopp, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Cherokee Trail's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Eaglecrest, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Eaglecrest suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Cherokee Trail when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Eaglecrest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
