Volleyball Recap: Aspen Has No Trouble Against Basalt

Aspen barely beat Basalt the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Skiers put the hurt on the Longhorns with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. The Skiers haven't had any issues with the Longhorns recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

While Aspen won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20, 25-23.

Their offense was headlined by Andrea Lee and Belle Sinclair, who picked up 11 kills apiece. They got some help from Ava Braley and her 21 assists. Sinclair also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Elena Creamer, racking up three apiece.

Aspen's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Basalt, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Aspen will square off against rival Roaring Fork at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Basalt is set to challenge their familiar foe Moffat County at 6:00 p.m. on October 2.
