Softball Recap: Streator Sets Scoring Season-High Against Herscher

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Streator). They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Herscher Tigers on Monday. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 9, 2019.

Makenna Ondrey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mya Zavada was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Joyce Walkling, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Streator kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Streator's record now sits at 2-5. As for Herscher, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Tigers beat Streator by a score of 13-3 on Tuesday.
