Football Recap: Lake Mary Rams vs. Spruce Creek Hawks

Suggested Video

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Lake Mary had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past the Spruce Creek Hawks 52-32. Considering the Rams have won seven contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

It was another big night for Isaiah Thomas, who rushed for 170 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2023.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pj Miller, who threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cameron Oxendine, who picked up 153 receiving yards and a touchdown.

The win (which was Lake Mary's eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points per game. As for Spruce Creek, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Lake Mary will host Seminole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Lake Mary has won five straight at home, while Seminole won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Spruce Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
