Basketball Recap: West Florida Beats Choctawhatchee for Their Fifth Straight Victory

West Florida hadn't done well against Choctawhatchee recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The West Florida Jaguars snuck past the Choctawhatchee Indians with a 48-43 victory. This was a revenge game for the Jaguars: when they faced off against the Indians two weeks ago, they had to take a 54-49 defeat.

Kamora Harris was the offensive standout of the game as she dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. Shania Beeks was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

West Florida was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The win (which was West Florida's fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points per game. As for Choctawhatchee, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the West Florida Jaguars take on the Foley Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (West Florida has won four straight at home, while Foley won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Choctawhatchee will take on Bay in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
